Pool chemical – Sodium Bisulfate (Technical grade)
Sodium Bisulfate is used for pH reduction and alkalinity in swimming pools and spas.
Sodium Bisulfate (Technical grade) is manufactured by neutralizing sulfuric acid with sodium chloride. Sodium Bisulfate is a dry acid salt that can be safety shipped and stored. The dry granular is readily soluble in water. Sometimes Sodium Bisulfate may be referred to as pH minus, pH decreaser and pH reducer.
Sodium Bisulfate is used for pH reduction and alkalinity in swimming pools and spas. It is the safest product to use for home and institutional pools and spas. Usually, 0.4 kg – 0.9 kg applied in a 40 cu meter pool will adequately reduce the pH. If after one or two hours the pH is above 7.8, repeat the treatment until the pH is between 7.2 and 7.6. Sodium Bisulfate is diluted and mixed into water to form an acidic solution before feeding back to the pool or spa water. Make sure you first add acid to water, never add water to acid!
Benefits of Sodium Bisulfate vs Hydrochloric Acid
No fumes – Less danger to eyes, lungs and skin
No dangerous splashes – Sodium Bisulfate is powdered
Less damage to vehicles, equipment and poolside accessories
Economical to use
